The internal coiled XLR cable is the practical advantage. The microphone plugs in at the tip, the recorder or mixer plugs in at the handle, and nothing runs down the outside of the pole to swing into frame, slap the tube during a move, or telegraph handling noise into a live microphone. For a boom operator working just above the top of frame, that matters on every take.
The pole extends to roughly nine feet, which covers most interview and narrative situations — reaching over a seated two-shot, staying above a walking master, or getting a shotgun close to a subject across a conference table. Locking sections hold firmly with the weight of a shotgun and blimp on the end, and the pole collapses to a manageable transport length.
The 3/8″-16 tip accepts our shock mounts and windshield systems, so it pairs with any shotgun microphone in our audio inventory.
