Shooting with the Mamiya 645
This is an actual medium-format film camera, not a digital body emulating one. The 645 negative is substantially larger than 35mm, which is where the detail, tonal depth and characteristic medium-format rendering come from. Photographers book it for editorial and portrait work; productions book it for stylised sequences and stills campaigns that want a genuine analogue result rather than a filter.
You will need film and processing, which we do not supply — worth arranging before your shoot. Happy to point you at labs we trust in the Los Angeles area.
Mamiya 645 Rental FAQs
Is this a film camera?
Yes, genuinely — medium-format 645 film. If you are after the medium-format look digitally, ask us about the Mamiya 645 vintage lens set adapted to a digital body instead.
Do you supply film and processing?
No, but we can recommend labs in the LA area. Arrange it before your shoot day rather than after.
