Rent the Aputure STORM 400x in Los Angeles from F22 Studios. The STORM 400x is Aputure’s mid-range bi-color LED fixture, designed for narrative dialog scenes, commercial interviews, corporate video, green-screen key and edge work, and any production that needs professional bi-color LED output in a fixture that travels easily and rigs anywhere.
Output is 27,100 lux at 1 meter with the included wide reflector, jumping to 64,600 lux at 3.3 feet with a 35° reflector for more focused throw. That’s enough punch to key a subject through 4×4 or 6×6 diffusion for large soft sources, or to serve as a hard backlight or edge light on green-screen work. The full CCT range spans 2,500K to 10,000K, giving you everything from warm interior practicals to cool blue moonlight without adding gels.
What sets the STORM 400x apart from other bi-color LEDs at this wattage is full ±G tint control across the complete ASC MITC range. Green/magenta shift means you can perfectly match mixed practical sources on location — sodium street lamps, fluorescent fixtures, older LED practicals — without accepting a slight color cast in your final image. Combined with Aputure’s proprietary BLAIR chipset (Blue, Lime, Amber, Indigo, and Red diodes), the STORM 400x delivers cleaner skin tones, improved color separation, higher SSI scores, and significantly better rendering of difficult colors compared to traditional bi-color LED fixtures.
CRI 95, TLCI 95, and SSI 87 at both 3200K and 5600K keep color science consistent across multi-camera shoots and demanding pipelines like ARRI ALEXA, RED V-Raptor, and Sony VENICE. The IP65 weather rating means rain, dust, and location grime aren’t a concern, and the Bowens mount opens up the entire Aputure modifier ecosystem: Fresnel 2X, Spotlight Mount, Light Domes, Lanterns, F10 barn doors, and any third-party Bowens accessories.
The STORM 400x pairs seamlessly with the STORM 700x and STORM 1200x for matched multi-fixture rigs across color science and CCT range. Sidus Link app control, DMX, and on-board controls give you full remote and cued control across the whole Aputure ecosystem.
