The STORM 700x is Aputure’s mid-flagship bi-color LED fixture, designed for narrative feature work, commercials, television production, and any project that needs serious LED output with the color quality of the STORM series in a package that’s more portable than the STORM 1200x.
At 700 watts of bi-color output, the STORM 700x delivers over 19,000 lux at 3 meters when paired with the CF10 Fresnel — real long-throw punch for lighting deep interiors, exterior night scenes, and hard sources through windows. That’s the range where a fixture stops being a supplemental tool and starts being a genuine key light for larger scenes and higher-ceilinged interiors. The full 2,500K to 10,000K CCT range with full ±100% green/magenta shift means you can match any practical source you encounter on location without gels.
Aputure’s proprietary BLAIR chipset combines Blue, Lime, Amber, Indigo, and Red emitters to produce an unusually full light spectrum. The result is cleaner skin tones, improved color separation, higher SSI scores, and significantly better rendering of difficult colors compared to traditional bi-color LED fixtures. CRI 95, TLCI 95, and SSI 87 at both 3200K and 5600K hold up across multi-camera shoots and demanding color pipelines — skin tones stay natural and greens/reds render accurately even in challenging setups.
The STORM 700x introduces the ProLock Bowens mount — an enhanced version of the standard Bowens mount that locks modifiers more securely and ensures precise optical alignment with lensed accessories like Fresnels and Spotlight Mounts. That’s a meaningful upgrade when you’re using heavier accessories on booms or shooting where a modifier could shift mid-take. IP65 weather resistance means exterior shoots, dusty locations, and light rain don’t take the fixture out of commission. Sidus Link, DMX, and on-board controls give you full remote and cued control.
