The H6 is the most versatile handheld recorder in our inventory, designed for documentary interviews, podcast and roundtable recording, ambience and sound-effects gathering, event and performance capture, and as a reliable second recorder on any production.
What makes the H6 different from smaller handhelds is its four XLR/TRS combo inputs, each with its own gain knob and switchable 48V phantom power. That means four wired microphones — a podcast table, a panel, a boom plus lavs — recorded as separate ISO tracks, not folded into a stereo mix. Add the removable top capsule and you are recording six tracks at once.
That top capsule is the H6 signature feature. It ships with an XY stereo capsule for general stereo recording and a mid-side capsule for adjustable stereo width, and it accepts Zoom shotgun and stereo shotgun capsules as well. Swapping capsules takes seconds, so the same recorder covers a sit-down interview in the morning and stereo ambience gathering in the afternoon.
The H6 also records an automatic backup track at -12dB below your set level. When a subject suddenly laughs or a door slams, the main track may clip but the safety track will not, and the take survives. Files record to SD card, the unit runs on four AA batteries, and it doubles as a USB audio interface when you need to feed a laptop directly.
