Shooting with the Super Takumar Vintage

Super Takumars are 1960s SLR primes that have aged unusually well — sharp, contrasty, and in several focal lengths genuinely competitive with vintage Zeiss glass at a fraction of the cost. Adapted for modern digital bodies, they give you period character with more bite than most vintage sets, which makes them a good pick when you want a vintage feel without softening the whole image.

Some Takumar elements use thorium glass that yellows slightly with age. That warmth is easy to correct, and many DPs like it — worth knowing before you shoot.
