G3 is the generation that put evolution wireless on nearly every documentary and ENG cart in the country, designed for interview dialog, presenter audio, event and conference coverage, and productions that want proven UHF wireless at a working rate.
Our G3 package includes the bodypack transmitter for lavalier work, the camera-mount receiver that feeds a camera or mixer, and the SKP 100 G3 plug-on transmitter that clips onto the XLR of a handheld reporter mic or shotgun and makes it wireless. That third piece is what makes the kit flexible on a documentary day: the same receiver serves a wired-down interview subject in the morning and a roving handheld in the afternoon.
Like the rest of the evolution line, G3 offers 42 MHz of tuning bandwidth with 20 banks of presets and an auto-scan that surveys the local spectrum for open channels. Found frequencies sync to the transmitter over infrared, so there is no manual entry and no mismatch. In practice that means a crew can walk into an unfamiliar venue, scan, sync, and be recording clean dialog in a couple of minutes.
Audio is classic evolution wireless — clean, forward dialog with HDX companding and switchable sensitivity for quiet or loud talkers — in metal housings built for daily location abuse. Both halves run on AA batteries, and the receiver provides a headphone output and a clear display for level monitoring on the fly.
Practical use cases include documentary and corporate interviews, conference and panel coverage, ENG and news, wedding and event audio, and second-channel wireless alongside our G4 or Lectrosonics systems on multi-subject shoots. G3 and G4 gear can generally be coordinated together in the same frequency range, which makes this a cost-effective way to add channels to a larger package.
