The ME66 capsule delivers a tight super-cardioid/lobar pattern that favors what the microphone is pointed at and rejects a useful amount of everything else. On location — a subject talking in a room with HVAC, a street interview, a trade-show floor — that directionality is what keeps dialog intelligible without a heavy noise-reduction pass in post.

Its modular design is the practical advantage. The capsule screws onto a K6 powering module, which can run from an internal AA battery or from 48V phantom power. That means the same microphone works plugged into a mixer on a cart, a Zoom recorder in a bag, or a camera that provides no phantom power at all — and if the shoot calls for a different pickup pattern, the capsule swaps rather than the whole microphone.
