Shooting with the Canon FD SSC Vintage
This is a hand-picked six-lens set of 1970s Canon SSC glass in mint optical condition, rehoused for cine use and covering full frame and large format — including Alexa 65. The rendering is noticeably warm with expressive flares, which is exactly why productions book vintage FD glass rather than something modern. It gives you a period feel and a real optical signature at a fraction of what a boutique vintage set costs.
Vintage glass varies lens to lens by nature. Ours is selected for condition and consistency, but if you need perfectly matched rendering across the set, that is worth discussing before you book.
Canon FD SSC Vintage Rental FAQs
What is the difference between the FD SSC and nFD sets?
The SSC set renders warmer with more expressive flares; the nFD set is more neutral with more controlled flare. Both cover large format. Which you want depends on how much character you are after.
Will these cover an Alexa 65?
Yes — both vintage Canon sets are selected for full-frame and large-format coverage, Alexa 65 included.
