Shooting with the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF
The Mini LF is what productions reach for when the look has to hold up on a cinema screen and in a grade six months later. Large format gives you the shallower depth and gentler falloff that reads as "expensive" without any work in post, and ARRI colour science means skin tones land right out of the camera — which matters most when you are shooting talent who will be scrutinised frame by frame. It is the body we send out on features, high-end commercials and premium streaming work, usually alongside Signature or other LPL glass.
Worth planning for: large format eats media and needs proper LPL or adapted PL coverage, so budget for both when you book. If your project is more run-and-gun than controlled, the standard ALEXA Mini is often the smarter rental.

Is the ALEXA Mini LF worth it over the ALEXA Mini for my project?
If you are shooting narrative, commercial or anything that will be graded properly and viewed large, the large-format look is a real difference and usually worth it. For documentary, corporate or fast-turnaround work the S35 ALEXA Mini gives you the same colour science in a lighter, cheaper package. Our rental agents will tell you honestly which one fits.
What lenses do you rent with the ALEXA Mini LF?
It takes LPL glass natively and PL via adapter. We carry a range of cine primes and zooms in Burbank that cover large format properly — talk to us about the look you are after and we will put a package together rather than just handing you a body.
