Shooting with the Laowa 24mm Probe
The Laowa 24mm Probe is a specialist tool with no real substitute. Its extended barrel lets you push the front element into spaces a normal lens cannot reach — into food, through openings, along surfaces at insect level — while staying in macro focus with a wide perspective. Product work, food cinematography and any shot that needs to travel through something tight is where it earns its rental.
The front element is small and the lens is slow, so it needs considerably more light than you would expect. Plan the lighting package with it, and we will advise.

What is a probe lens used for?
Shots you cannot get any other way — moving through tight spaces, extreme macro with a wide perspective, dramatic close-ups of food and products. It is a specialist look.
Do I need extra lighting for it?
Almost certainly yes. It is a slow lens with a small front element, so it needs more light than a conventional macro. Tell us the shot and we will quote lighting alongside it.
