Shooting with the Freefly WAVE
The WAVE is a specialist high-speed camera: Super 35, 4K slow motion, ProRes RAW, in a body light enough to fly or put on a gimbal. High-speed cameras are usually large and awkward, which is exactly what rules them out of the shots people most want them for. The WAVE exists to solve that, and it is the booking to ask about when the slow-motion shot has to move.
High frame rates need considerably more light than normal shooting. Plan the lighting package alongside the camera and we will advise on what the frame rate actually demands.

What frame rates does the WAVE shoot?
It is built for 4K high-speed work with ProRes RAW recording. Tell us the effect you want and our rental agents will confirm the frame rate and the light you will need for it.
Can it be used on a gimbal or drone?
Yes, and that is largely the point. Most high-speed cameras are too heavy to fly; the WAVE is designed to be light enough to move.
